NJ TWINS MISSION STATEMENT

The NJ Twins Organization was established in 2001.  The idea was to give young players professional level instruction in a Player Development atmosphere.  We feel that with proper guidance and education, we can raise a player’s ability to a level they may not have achieved otherwise.

Most teams have winning as their main goal.  We feel that by concentrating on the outcome of the game, players lose the ability to try new, more advanced techniques.  The NJ Twins focus on having players work advance baseball techniques into their game, thus taking their game to new heights.  In addition, we want players to make their own decisions on the field while the game is in progress.  By using this approach, players absorb the game through active learning, as opposed to passive learning where they are told everything to do.
The success of this philosophy is evident by the achievements of those who have successfully come through the program.  To date the NJ Twins have had 25 players who were drafted or signed professional contract with Major League Baseball Teams, and 111 players go on to play Division 1 college baseball.

In 2010, 5 former players participated in Major League Spring Training, with 14 former players active in the Minor Leagues.

In addition to player success, 3 former NJ Twins coaches are currently working full time in Major League Baseball.  Sean Rooney who coached in 2001 is the East Coast Supervisor for the Kansas City Royals.  Jeff Graupe, who played on the inaugural 2001 team, came back to coach and is now the Assistant Farm Director for the Cincinnati Reds.  Lou Wieben, who coached from 2007-2010 is now the Mid-Atlantic Scouting Supervisor for the Tampa Bay Rays.
